What is a domain name and how can I get
one?
A domain name is your
address on the World Wide Web. To be accessed from
anywhere in the world, a domain name must be registered
with an ICANN accredited registrar. If you already have
a domain name, there is no fee to change your name servers. If
you need a domain name you can purchase one through the Qhosting order form. We'll handle the entire
registration and domain name management process for
you. Qhosting can register available .com, .net,
and .org domain names. Use our order form to
check the availability of the domain name you want.

Does Qhosting
permit
"adult" hosting?
Pornography and sex-related
merchandising is prohibited on all our servers. This
includes sites that may infer sexual content, or links
to adult content elsewhere. We will be the sole arbiter
in determining violations of this provision.
Clear violations will result in deactivation of service
with no refund.
May I promote my site with bulk email?
Sending bulk volumes of
unsolicited email, or "spamming", is in violation of
our the Qhosting
Terms of Service and will
result in termination of your account. There are legal
and ethical issues involved in mass mailing of
unsolicited email.

What are your server specifications?
Qhosting
has several server configurations. Our
latest configuration is a Pentium 4 1.26 GHZ with 5MB of
RAM on redundant systems. We have our own Multi-homed redundant (both line-OC12 and DS3's- and backbone redundancy) NOC directly connected to five of
the largest Backbones - AT&T, Savvis (UUnet, Sprint, and Cables & Wireless), and Cox, and a second Shared Data center which is also Multi-homed (both line-OC12 and
DS3's- and backbone redundancy) connected to UUnet, Global Crossing and Broadwing. We
continually add to our servers and upgrade our
configurations so that we can provide the best service
to our clients.
What software runs on your servers?
We use RedHat Linux Version using Apache as the web server and CPanel as the Reseller and Web Hosting control panel. We
also offer PHP, MySQL, and Perl.
How do I transfer my site to Qhosting's servers?
Step 1: Use the buy now button on the Web Hosting Page. When completing the form, be
sure to indicate that it is a transfer account.
Step 2: Within an hour you will
receive an email from us stating that your account has
been set up and you will get information on your services.
Step 3: Transfer your content and test
your site on our server with your IP number using an FTP program such as WS_FTP. You use
the IP number just like a domain name. For example, if
we give you an IP number of 209.239.33.2, you can put
that number in a browser as http://209.239.33.2:2082 to see
what your control panel will look like on our server. FrontPage users will have to wait until the name is fully resolving after completing step 4.
Step 4: Then email a domain name
transfer request to the appropriate registrar company,
the company that you initially registered your domain
name through. Use the Qhosting.com nameservers
that are on the signup form when transferring your
domain name.
Step 5: Once you verify the transfer,
the registrar will point your domain name to our name
server, and the rest of the world will be able to
access your new site on our server with the domain
name. This process usually takes between 24-48 hours to propogate the changes throughout the entire world.

What is Qhosting's connectivity?
Qhosting
is "OnNet"
with GlobalCenter (GC), Qwest Communications and GTE
through three separate bandwidth-on-demand connections.
Qhosting does not need to link to the Internet
though an OC3 or T3 Telecom circuit. Instead,
independent cables run directly from the data center
our servers are in to all three carriers points of
presence. The direct connection to three Internet
backbones provides fast access to our servers from
almost everywhere in the world.
